Background of the Study: The aging population in many parts of Nigeria, including Yobe State, faces unique challenges related to health, mobility, and access to medical care. Elderly patients often experience chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and arthritis, which require ongoing care and monitoring. Home-based nursing care has emerged as a viable option to address these challenges, providing elderly patients with personalized medical attention while remaining in the comfort of their own homes (Zubair et al., 2024). Home-based nursing care can reduce hospital readmissions, improve medication adherence, and enhance overall quality of life by addressing both the medical and psychosocial needs of the elderly (Alhassan & Yusufu, 2023).
In Yobe State, where healthcare facilities may be distant or overburdened, home-based nursing care offers a potential solution to improve the well-being of elderly patients, particularly those with limited mobility or financial constraints. Nurses play an essential role in home care by offering wound care, medication management, health monitoring, and emotional support. However, there is limited research on the effectiveness of home-based nursing care in improving the well-being of elderly patients in the state. This study will examine the impact of home-based nursing care on the overall well-being of elderly patients in Yobe State.
Statement of the Problem: Elderly patients in Yobe State often face barriers to accessing healthcare services due to physical, financial, or geographic constraints. Home-based nursing care could potentially improve their well-being by providing accessible, continuous care. However, the effectiveness of such care in improving health outcomes for elderly patients in Yobe State has not been adequately explored. This study aims to assess how home-based nursing care impacts the health and quality of life of elderly patients in the region.

Scope and Limitations of the Study: This study will focus on elderly patients receiving home-based nursing care in Yobe State. Limitations include challenges in measuring subjective well-being and potential biases in self-reported data from both patients and caregivers.
